Edifier TWS1 True Wireless Stereo Earbuds: A Complete Review
More recently, in the segment of fully wireless headphones (TWS), the range was small. But at present, a huge offer on the market allows you to choose a model with the characteristics that are most interesting to the user, without overpaying. In this review, we will meet one of the representatives of the above – the relatively inexpensive headset Edifier TWS1.
Inside the Box
Headphones come in a nice cardboard box. The delivery set does not stand out, it is standard for products of this class. Inside the package are headphones with a charging case, micro USB cable, instructions and two additional pairs of rubber nozzles of different sizes.
Design and Ergonomics
We have a black version of the headphones in the review, but there is also a white version. The TWS1 case is made entirely of plastic. Despite the fact that it is glossy, the headset does not leave noticeable fingerprints on itself, nevertheless, the contact surface area is small.
On the outside, there is a nice image resembling the Latin “E”, so the manufacturer reminds of itself. On each of the headphones there is an orientation designation L – left (left) and R – right (right). On the inside, there are contacts for charging and ear pads. Each headphone has a small status indicator. It emits a little light and will not annoy those around it.
In general, I liked the design of Edifier TWS1, they look pretty and do not poke out much from the auricle. Headphones are medium in size, well designed and most of the time, they will not fall out with sudden head movements, but the structure of the auricle is individual, so it’s worthwhile to try on the headset before buying.
The case is also made of glossy plastic, which, unlike headphones, gets dirty noticeably. If this feature bothers you, you will have to look at the white version, where the prints will not be so noticeable.
On the front surface of the case, there is a status indicator and a recess for the convenience of opening the lid. On top of it flaunts a recessed logo of the manufacturer. At the back is a charging slot, and at the bottom is technical information. Inside the charging case, like all similar devices, there are niches with contacts.
The headphones are fixed securely with magnets and can be removed without much difficulty, you don’t have to pick out for a long time.
The lid of the case does not fit snugly to the base and slightly backlash. This will in no way affect the reliability of the design, but tactile sensations are not the most pleasant, and you often have to use the case.
The case’s dimensions are small; its dimensions allow you to wear headphones in the “fifth” jeans pocket.
Management and Functionality Edifier TWS1 True Wireless Stereo Earbuds
Edifier TWS1 is a fully wireless in-ear type headphone.
The headset uses Bluetooth 5.0 with support for aptX and Qualcomm TrueWireless Stereo Plus. Sound is provided by 8 mm neodymium speakers in the frequency range of 20 – 20,000 Hz. Headphones low impedance with an impedance of 16 ohms. As for the battery capacity, the values here are as follows: 60 mAh in each earphone, 500 mAh in the case. Headphones are fully charged in an hour and a half. The claimed battery life is 32 hours (8 hours of playback on one charge and another 24 hours from the charger). In practice, the numbers can change a little for the worse, but in general, the headphones hold a good charge.
The headset is protected according to the IPX5 standard (from dust and splashes) – this will delight those who engage in active types of physical culture in the open air. Headphones connect to the main unit without any problems. When connecting for the first time, hold your finger on the touch panel of the left earphone for some time. Incidentally, he is in charge of this pair and will not work separately to the right without an active colleague. In the future, the headset itself will instantly connect to the previously paired device as soon as the headphones leave the case.
TWS1 is controlled by touch panels located on the outside. One press pauses the song or continues to play it (either accepts or ends the call), double – switches to the next track, and triple – to the previous one. Both headphones have the same control, so you don’t have to remember separate gestures for each. Through the headphones you can not change the volume level – this is inconvenient because you have to regularly get your phone out of your pocket.
Sound and Voice
It is naive to expect amazing sound quality from inexpensive wireless headphones, and audiophiles are unlikely to be interested in such solutions in order to feel the softness and warmth of the lamp combo. For such a headset, a well-designed “middle” is important, and these headphones are there. Low frequencies are a little lacking, and the detail is not the highest, but for every day listening to music in the background or movies Edifier TWS1 will be enough. The sound of the headphones is generally good and they are definitely worth the money.
Communication is stable, without interference. There are practically no delays in playback, the “lipSink” is excellent. As for speech transmission, this is not a strong point of the headset. The interlocutor will hear your voice remotely, it will be possible to make out what has been said without much effort, but you should not expect AirPods-level communication quality; however, this is characteristic of all representatives of this price segment.
